Crushed Bricks: Demolition Waste as a Sustainable Raw Material for Geopolymers

نویسندگان

چکیده

Demolition activity plays an important role in the total energy consumption of construction industry European Union. The indiscriminate use non-renewable raw materials, consumption, and unsustainable design has led to a redefinition criteria ensure environmental protection. This article introduces experimental plan that determines viability new type material, obtained from crushed brick waste, be introduced into market. potential waste as material production building precast products, by curing geopolymeric blend at 60 °C for 3 days, been exploited. Geopolymers represent alternative reducing emissions whilst, same time, achieving considerable mechanical performance. results this study show geopolymers produced were characterized good properties terms open porosity, water absorption, strength, surface resistance values when compared materials using traditional technologies.

Sustainable construction: construction and demolition waste reconsidered.

Construction activity in Europe has increased substantially in the past decade. Likewise, there has also been a commensurate rise in the generation of construction and demolition waste (C&DW). This, together with the fact that in many European countries the rate of recycling and reuse of C&DW is still quite low has engendered a serious environmental problem and a motivation to develop strategie...

Reuse of Natural Waste Material for Making Light Weight Bricks

Bricks are a widely used construction and building material around the world. Bricks are prepared from natural waste material which comprises of orange peels and coconut waste. Clay is used as a binding material for natural waste material and paper mill waste. The main objective of the present study is to reduce the quantity of clay with natural waste material. The orange peels and coconut wast...

Effects of Waste Bricks Powder of Gachsaran Company as a Pozzolanic Material in Concrete

The aim of this study is to investigate the feasibility of using waste bricks powder of Gachsaran Company in concrete. Cement is replaced by waste bricks powder in different proportions until 40 percent by weight. pozzolanic properties of bricks powder and compressive strength of concrete were investigated. The results demonstrated that the bricks powder show pozzolanic properties. Results also...

A hazardous waste from secondary aluminium metallurgy as a new raw material for calcium aluminate glasses.

A solid waste coming from the secondary aluminium industry was successfully vitrified in the ternary CaO-Al(2)O(3)-SiO(2) system at 1500 degrees C. This waste is a complex material which is considered hazardous because of its behaviour in the presence of water or moisture. In these conditions, the dust can generate gases such as H(2), NH(3), CH(4), H(2)S, along with heat and potential aluminoth...

Industrial aluminum hazardous waste as a new raw material for zeolite synthesis

In Spain, the secondary aluminum industry is a mature activity which produces 35% of the total aluminum production. This industry generates slag (black dross) with a valuable content of aluminum which is recovered by dry milling processes in the aluminum tertiary industry. The powdered fine solid is trapped in the sleeve filter suction system of the aluminum slag milling process. This solid is ...
